Drums = 10x8 and 12x10 stadard tom toms with a 14x12 in a floor tom position. 16x14 floor tom.
13x6 snare and two 20x22 kick drums. I went with these sizes to form my own characteristic sound.
Standard size toms for a natural perccusive sound. Deeper kick drums for more punch but
stayed with the common diameter for a little boom. These kicks sound like cannons,
thank god for Rocket Shells.
The snare as a 13" diameter for more "crack" than normal but 6" deep for plenty of depth behind it.
The overall character of a Rocket Shells carbon fiber drum is perfectly between maple and birch.
You can tune in either direction.Brass, (cymbals) = 17 & 18 inch Zildjian, Z-Custom medium crashes. 20 inch Z-Custom ride.
14 inch Quick beat high hats. ZBT-plus 8 inch splash and 18 inch china.
It has taken me forever to find the cymbal set up that felt right. I chose the
medium weight crashes for an aggresive but yet bright sound. The heavier ride to get the most
range out of one ride without having to have more than one in the kit. A smaller but thick ride
works great to acheive this. I try to keep the entire kit as small and convinient as possible.
Anyway,,,,,,,,,,
ZBT-plus china and splash to get the most cutting and trashy sound for the style in which I use them.
I use them more for dynamics than accents. The high hats were a stuggle for me. I have to exact
sets but one has the "brilliant" finish. That one seemed to dark sounding and the other was too mild.
Finally on a simple minded day I realized I could mix the two, aren't I a guiniess.
Now I have the "Brilliant" on top and the non on bottom,,,,,,,,,,,,,WOW. lol.
Hardware = All TAMA other than snare stand, which is "D.W.". TAMA Iron Cobra pedals and

R.I.M.S. mounting system for the toms.
